This division oversees all educational activities within VietMD.Net community. The division offers courses and certificates. Why Learning Medical English with VietMD.Net? 1. Learning Medical English from American Doctors: Dr. W Tran and other US physicians are fully trained here in the United States: from undergraduate, medical school, internship, residency, and fellowship. 2. Medical English is medical knowledge: You will learn medical knowledge in English and USMLE materials like US medical students and doctors. You will also learn communication skills, critical thinking, and evidence based medicine in addition to your Medical English Course. VietMD.net follows ACGME competency for teaching doctors and students. 3. The ultimate learning goal is patient care: It is all about is patient care. That is why we are doctors. Every lecture starts with a clinical case from a real patient. Your role is a doctor in daily practice and so you are in the lecture. There is no better way to learn medical English by real patient care. Whatever you learned will be applied to daily practice. This, in turn, will have a better outcome for patient care. 4. Opportunity to earn a certificate from VietMD.net: At the end of each course, the participant will be eligible to obtain a certificate (see below) from VietMD.net if he or she meets the requirements. I. Current Courses offered by VietMD.Net 1. General Medical English Course: Course Director: Dr. W Tran, MD and other VietMD.Net board of directors Eligible participants: resident doctors, attending doctors, and senior medical students with minimum clinical skills. Fee: Free to University Medical Center doctors. For non-UMC doctors, please contact us for details. 2. USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Practice: Course Director: Dr. W Tran, MD and other VietMD.Net board of director Eligible participants: Applicants to US residency who are preparing to take USMLE Step 2 CS. Practice will be 1 hour on Skype once per week depends on scheduling. Dr. W Tran will be the patient and the doctor. At the end of each case, Dr. Tran will give immediate feedbacks on trainee's performance. Fee: Free II. VietMD.Net Certificates VietMD.Net offers these certificates in order to establish the standards for learning Medical English in Vietnam. 1. Certificate of Completion of General Medical English Course This certificate demonstrate the participant has passed minimum requirements in the General Medical English Curriculum: - Meet prerequisite for General Medical English Course with Basic English skills - Attended 40 contact hours of lectures of clinical cases that emphasize on internal medicine (60%), communication and interpersonal skills (10%), general surgery (15 %), others (psychiatry, pediatrics, OB/Gyn) - Successfully presented a clinical case with audience interactions - Approvals from both Course Director and the University Medical Center This certificate is jointly issued by VietMD.Net course director (Dr. W Tran) and the University Medical Center at Hochiminh City, Vietnam. Certificate holders are asked to continue their medical English learning after received the certificates. Number of Certificates Issued: 29
